I'll start by saying the concept of the X-Factor is great. It allows users to engage in a gamut of exercises both compound and isolated. Also the standard gym steel clips and attachments (hand grips, ankle straps, straight bar) give users the ability to diversify what kind and number of muscles they would like to work. However...

After reading several reviews for this home gym product I was confident I would be purchasing a top quality piece of equipment with an unlimited warranty. This was not the case. I set my X-factor up the day I got it. I had anticipated set up and my first work out to go smoothly. Rather, There were four things I immediately found wrong with the product:

1. The sticker labeling the lb resistance of two of the 30lb bun-gees were already peeling before I even set it up
2. The metal anchor plates on the top corners of the door scraped paint off of the door casing. Also, the door will not close unless I shift the top non-hinged side so it is flush with the door.
3. Furthering my original disappointment, two of the four 15lb. pulleys make a winding noise every time they are used.
4. The Weider website says there is a lifetime warranty... the warranty that comes in the package says there is only a 90 day warranty.

As there are several things wrong with this product, like I said before, the concept is great. If higher quality pulleys were used (that don't make noise), the unit didn't scrape the door jam like it says it should, and it was actually a lifetime warranty as stated on the website (the warranty that comes in the package has a 90 day limit) this would be a top shelf home gym for the price.

Couple questions:

1. Im assuming is comes with more then one handle so you can work two pulleys at the same time. Correct?

2. The highest tension was 60lbs therefore if im using both pulleys doesn't that mean the highest weight i can pull is only 120lbs and not the 210 listed?

3. I plan on putting it on a door in my basement and the door is shorter then your average one. Does the system adjust to different heights?

Thanks in advance.

I am interested in purchasing the X-Factor for toning only. I do not want to build muscle. Can any one tell me if the chart example or guidelines included with x-factor in box shows option(s) for toning only & would the least amount of 15 lbs be to much more toning only? this is new for me, so my questions may sound dumb

I just have a concern regarding the resistance tubes. I have worked with resistance tubes and they seem to snap after a period of time. The tower 200 uses bungee chords, so does the x factor resistance band can last along time and are they part of the warranty also? Thanks in advance!

I am thinking about buying weider x factor. Look like it will work out well for my body and muscles. But, I have questions about x factor...Will it burn off fats? and will the x factor convert fats into muscles?

i just brought the X-factor over good reviews, Tower 200 is bull! your pulleys well melt over time from the friction of heat, i searched for alot of reviews over xfactor and tower 90 to combo it with my P90X tower 200 came out the worse to buy..... elite fitness where i just brought it from only import gym stuff that works, and seen results from there customers, as she told me to come back in 90days and give a review on this product, they had this set up as a demo, i have been doing P90X for 30days and i used to go to the gym, before that the gym was to dear, so i wanted something better, i asked her to put the max weight on this, and i tried to do my pull downs, ........ guess what, its not easy, after 10 reps 1 set i was really tried.... the cables are really thick ... thicker than your normal bands your buy, i really cant wait to set this up and see what its like after one month

Rob,

I've never heard of that on the X-Factor. Actually, I've never heard of that on the Tower 200 either! Anyone else?

When doing cardio or exercises with a lot of speed - do the pulleys hold up? I have a Tower 200 and high speed exercises caused the pins in the pulleys to heat up and meld the plastic pulleys. Has anyone experienced that with the X-Factor??

Thanks,

Rob
