Weight Loss to Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

On October 26, 2011, in Therapy, Wellness, by abruk

Many people believe that once they develop diabetes, they will have the disease for the rest of their lives. This is unfortunately true for those with Type 1 diabetes. This is an autoimmune disease where the body is unable to produce insulin, meaning that a type 1 diabetic will need insulin for life or until a cure is discovered. However, roughly 95% of those that have diabetes have type 2, which is reversible.

The key to success in reducing insulin dependency for those with type 2 diabetes is losing weight. While genetics and family history contribute to the development of diabetes, there is a strong correlation between being overweight or obese and having the disease. It’s also easier to manage blood sugar levels when you aren’t overweight. During the creation of our diabetes guide, my team saw people repeatedly ask this question, “What special diabetic foods should people with diabetes eat?” We don’t know why some believe that people with diabetes need to eat special foods; this is absolutely false!

People with diabetes should eat a healthy, balanced diet that helps to promote weight loss. This diet should be rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. The diet should also avoid fried and fatty foods that are high in salt and sugar. Do you see any special diabetic foods in this diet? In fact, anyone who wants to lose weight and get into shape should follow a diet like this. If you have type 2 diabetes and are willing to put in the hard work to shed your extra weight and reverse insulin dependency, you need to follow this diet very strictly. A diet like this will also help with managing blood sugar levels and slowly reduce the amount of insulin you’ll need to give yourself.

To help facilitate weight loss, try including a variety of power foods in your diet. Power foods are those that contain the highest amount of nutrients and the least amount of calories. Most of these foods are relatively easy to include in a diet and are an easy substitute for the snacks you already eat. A few of these power foods that the Cleveland Clinic lists include:

  • Apples
  • Berries
  • Bananas
  • Salmon
  • Tuna
  • Carrots
  • Tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • Onion

Eating a healthy diet is essential to weight loss, but many people forget to include exercise as part of their lifestyle change. A lot of people believe that doing cardio is the best way to promote weight loss, and this is only partially true. You should also include weight lifting as part of your exercise routine. Building muscle helps raise your metabolism for a longer period of time than with only cardio. Even a light weight lifting session along with cardio will help you shed the excess weight faster. By following a healthy diet and exercise program, a type 2 diabetic can shed their excess weight and reduce or eliminate their dependency on insulin.

Weight loss shots-An idea in its infancy

On October 19, 2011, in Therapy, Wellness, by Sammy

Who does not want to lose weight instantaneously, be it by hook or crook? So many methods are available to reduce weight. It is of critical importance to select a method which is suitable and efficient. Special attention must be paid to the fact that, the chosen process is not unhealthy. One such weight loss program designed in recent times for shedding the calories, is the injection of weight loss shots.

Many people are unsure of the working and composition of these shots. It is of great importance to know how weight loss shots function. Most shots try to emphasize on a unique weight loss composition. Some of the most common methods of weight loss are listed below:

•         Most of these weight loss shots work on regulating the blood sugar. As blood sugar is often the reason for exponential weight gain, this can prove to be a good step for controlling weight.

•         Some may try to control the insulin level, which can work out to be quite an effective step in weight loss.

•         Many shots are produced in such a manner as to decrease the appetite. As hunger level is decreased, it is easy to have regulated weight loss.

•         A special chemical ingredient called metreleptin is being used by pharmaceutical companies. It is known for being an effective tool in decreasing weight at a fast rate, albeit with some side effects.

•         Pramlintide, a chemical is scientifically proven to reduce binge eating on a high scale. Being a peptide hormone, it has the ability to reduce obesity quickly as compared to other contemporary weight loss programs.

•         Though not scientifically proven, it has been stated that Lipotropic compounds present in the human body can be stimulated to accentuate weight loss. As they are responsible for metabolism, weight loss shots can be prepared accordingly.

Along with these weight loss techniques, maintaining a strict diet is essential as well. Devising a healthy and effective diet plan is the most important thing. Relying solely on a weight loss program, such as the weight loss shots injection will not yield a significant result. Try combining the various methods of weight loss, to have a better chance of losing weight quickly.

It is necessary to get proper medical advice before choosing a weight loss program. These synthetic hormone induced injections, may well take time before they are accepted gradually. Obviously people need time to adjust to this new technique of weight loss. Little practical research is done on most of these injection mechanisms, as they are proposed as theories by many experts. Some chemicals which have tested for safety and effectiveness are not yet officially approved.

Weight loss shots are not yet available in the market. More information can be obtained by making contact with the giants of pharmaceutical industry.  These weight loss shots must be bought exclusively from trusted sources only. Buying these injections, without proper guidance and medical help can result in severe health problems for the body. Try to check the authenticity of the weight loss shots, before taking them.

A new survey over more that 1000 adults in California, done by University of California at Davis, shows that 43 percent of adults have some reluctancy about telling their doctors about possible depression symptoms. The reason for the withholding this information is the patients are worried that they will prescribed antidepressants. Antidepressants have many side effects that might frighten some people away. Some of the more common side effects are constipation, dizziness, headaches, weight gain/ loss, and sleep problems. Unfortunately for some young adults antidepressants have been linked to suicidal behavior.

Some of the surveyed people responded that they believe it is not their primary care physician’s job to “deal with emotional issues,” as a reason why they do not share their depression symptoms with their doctors. Others say they are worried that a depression diagnosis will show up on their medical records and worry an current or potential employer. Others believe that the prescribed antidepressants will not be effective for them. Antidepressants have about a 60% success rate as far as making people feel better, as reported by the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. About 14% of the surveyed people reported that they did not want to be referred to counseling.

Robert Bell, the researcher from UC Davis, said, “Ironically, those most subscribed to potential reasons for not talking to a primary care physician about their depression tended to be those who had the greatest potential to benefit from such conversations”

Depression can be described many different ways, but most commonly as being unhappy, feeling blue and/or sad. Depression affects 6.7 percent of the United States, and the average age of on set is 32 years old. Everyone experiences these feeling at sometime or another, but when someone is suffering from clinical depression these feeling interfere with their everyday life and for extended periods of time. Help reduce back pain with self-hypnosis

On October 18, 2011, in Back Pain, Therapy, Wellness, by rob1123

Although hypnosis as being a fairly controversial subject over the years. Scientific studies have shown that they can help with many problems. One such problem is pain and in particular the applications of it on the back. A variety of hypnotic techniques have been used to help pain in the back, the aim of this post is to explore some of those techniques.
In 1981, a psychologist named Hilgard showed that there was two aspects the pain. First it was the sensory component the second and emotional component. He did this by hypnotizing a group of people and putting them through the called pressure test (which involves immersing arm in freezing water and reporting on pain over a 30 second time period). The people who were hypnotized reported no pain however, when pressured into a returned state of consciousness they almost immediately felt pain again. This lead Hilgard to propose his neo-disassociation which basically stated that hypnosis makes the brain disregard any feelings pain as opposed to drugs which simply log in information pain getting to the brain.

Autogenic training

The first self-hypnosis technique which can be used is called auto-genic training. This is perhaps most simple and effective form of hypnosis for back pain; it involves simply putting oneself into a hypnotic trance 2 to 3 times a day. This trance can be achieved using a variety of methods, the first of which is known auto-genic training. This involves an adopting a reclined position, then starting at the feet one needs to relax each body part. This is achieved by thinking thoughts which are relaxing, for example, if you wanted to relax your feet in could say something like “my feet are warm” or “my feet are heavy”. Once this has been done for everybody, you should be completely relaxed; in order to put yourself in a hypnotic trance you just need to count down from five. You should already feel that some pain has been relieved, however you can further reduces pain by thinking positive thoughts for example “my back doesn’t hurt”.

Autosuggestion

The second technique is known as autosuggestion. There has been some controversy as to whether this technique is actually a form of hypnosis. Regardless of whether it is or not it has been shown to help back pain. Like auto-genic training this method involves no equipment such as audio recordings. This is done by simply repeating a positive phrase after you wake up, and before you go to sleep. For example, in this case it would be “my back does not hurt”. Repeating this over and over for each day will help to reduce the emotional aspects of the pain experienced in your back.

Audio recordings

Finally, last hypnotic technique which can be used to help back pain is the use of audio recordings. These are specifically pre-recorded pieces of material which are tailored to the specific notice of the user, for example there are some which are specifically designed to help people quit smoking. Although they can be used any point in the day, they are most effective whilst the user is sleeping. This is because this is because the psychological walls between the conscious and subconscious are lower during sleep, hence, the recordings on able to better influence the subconscious. Although the user would have to and take in order to carry out this type of hypnosis, it requires no training to master so is a good choice for anybody who doesn’t have much free time.
To conclude, while there are many hypnotic techniques which are able to help treat back pain, these are the main three. As they are the most effective and simple to understand.

If you’re trying to lose belly fat then you may be like most people and think that all belly fat is bad. The truth is that there are two different types of belly fat and only one is bad. There’s subcutaneous fat, which is a pretty harmless layer of fat that lies just under your skin and on top of the organs in your abdominal area.

Visceral Abdominal Fat

The type of belly fat that so many of us battle is visceral abdominal fat, which is often referred to VAT. This is the bad fat. It’s associated with heart disease, cancer and all kinds of other detrimental diseases that often come along with age. VAT is found under the organs and is the reasoning behind that potbelly look. If you have VAT, you’re much more likely to suffer from disease somewhere down the road.

Fat in your abdominal area acts differently than fat found elsewhere. It more easily receives cortisol, which is your fight-or-flight hormone. VAT picks up the cortisol and stores it for emergency use later, so you can kind of call VAT your emergency fat for times of dire need or extreme hunger (we’re talking starving here).

Your cortisol levels normally fluctuate throughout the day. But when you’re a stressed out mess, it stays high. That means more fat drops into your belly area for safe-keeping since your body knows that belly fat has great receptors for cortisol. So essentially, being stressed out all of the time can easily contribute to more belly fat than you would like to have.

Acidic pH Levels

Stress is also directly connected to a higher level of pH in your bloodstream, basically making your blood more acidic. That’s bad news, because it means it sucks the calcium right out of your bones. So being proactive to release stress on a regular basis can probably help to prevent osteoporosis.

NPY

NPY is short for neuropeptide Y. When you’re stressed, your body releases NPY and research shows that it basically activates more receptors in your fat cells. Your fat cells then multiply and grow bigger.

So you can see that losing belly fat has to be accompanied by reducing stress levels, which also helps you live a healthier life. Try to actively partake in yoga, tai chi or daily leisurely walks… whatever it is that relaxes you. Grab some relaxation music from Amazon (there are even a few free MP3 downloads at the time I’m writing this, such as “Breathe & Let Go” by Love Yourself).
