If you live in an area which is prone to natur
al disasters (I’m thinking Florida and hurricanes, but I’m sure there are others) you may want to take a look at our range of Berkey Water Purifier Systems. There are several different sizes, they’re all fully portable and no power supply is needed. You already have a water filter? Let me explain the difference.
Water filters remove the rubbish from water, it’s true, but water purifiers are something else again. We usually attach water filters to the tap and use them to treat water which has already been treated. Water purifiers go further. You can use them to treat water from untreated sources; rivers, streams, even stagnant ponds. They not only remove bacteria from water, they remove viruses, which are far, far smaller. (more…)
Tyent has done it again, and I wanted to drop a quick note on this. The Tyent MMP-9090 Turbo Extreme Water Ionizer is now available, and it has exceeded our expectations. We will do a detailed review later, but here is a quick introduction.
The Tyent MMP-9090 is the latest from the leading manufacturer of water ionizers. Tyent has set themselves far apart from any competing unit with the new model. The MMP-9090 Turbo Extreme builds on the groundbreaking MMP-7070 Turbo and includes all the features from the earlier unit including:
- In addition to the ability to produce alkaline drinking water, the ability to create “super waters” of ph levels from 2.0 to 12.0. Most units on the market do not have the power to create these highly alkaline or highly acidic waters, which may be (more…)
Physiotherapy is kind of new, or so I always thought. So I was surprised when the very nice man who tortured me in hospital told me that Hippocrates himself had used massage, manipulation and hydrotherapy to treat patients. Physical therapy it seems is as old as the science of medicine, dating back at least to 460 BC, and on the biggest problems physical therapists face is the varying degree’s of fitness in their patients. We all know that if you don’t use it, you loose it, but a degree of fitness is required just in order to take exercise. Not all therapies suit all patients, and while walking sounds nice and gentle, you can’t walk if you cant support your own weight, so something as fundamental as using your legs can be a problem. This is a common problem for anyone attempting serious weight loss. If you are already overweight you may find the exercise is as bad for you as the extra weight you carry, but you still need to exercise, so what do you do? (more…)
There really is nothing more fundamental to our health than water, so let me ask you this very simple question. How much actual water do you drink? I’ve just been told that my water requirement, given not too much exercise, normal environment, should be about 3 liters a day. That’s about thirteen and a half glasses. Given that, on average we spend eight hours each day asleep, that works out on average to about 1 glass of water every hour. I don’t know about you, but my intake’s not even close. Worse still, that’s just me. At 3 liters a day, my household of five should consume 105 liters, 28 gallons of water every week or 1442 gallons in a year. That’s a lot of water, so the next question clearly is where should I get it? (more…)
I ignored exercise for years, until, as is always the way, the need for it hit me in an unpleasant way. After a month in hospital and an unpleasant operation I was told to go home and rest and recover, ‘Oh and by the way, don’t forget to exercise that leg’.
When you feel fragile, as you do after a month in hospital, it’s not easy to even think about exercise. I had worked with physiotherapists, but at home it was very very easy to just do the rest part and forget everything else. Weeks passed and I began to feel better, I stretched the leg, but was quite unable to go for walks, so I started to look for something that would be low impact but would let me ‘stretch my legs’.
